Is a new Operating System Worth It?

Operating systems are a crazy thing.  While they are incredibly useful for every kind of activity you may use your computer for at some point, different operating systems often come with different pros and cons about them.  While some people are just naturally going to go with the notion that the operating system that your computer comes with should be the only one that you ever use, this is some very narrow minded thinking on the subject.  After all, staying with a single operating system can save you both a lot of time and a lot of money versus how much of both changing to a new one would involve.  But on the other hand, sometimes you are just looking to go with an application or a type of computer usage that simply does not fit with the operating system that you are currently using.

If your operating system is doing well, you would think that there is no good reason why you should even think about replacing it.  After all, most new operating systems cost hundreds of dollars.  And even the free types of operating systems such as Linux require a great deal of time investment, if you are going to use them properly.  Some people have even said that you pretty much have to turn yourself into a student of Linux, if you are ever going to really master using it.  So why would you go into the notion of changing something, when what you have already got is already working fairly well?

You might end up changing the operating system you are using because it is simply not up to your needs.  For instance, a lot of people who have a Mac still want to use Windows, because it actually runs every program that they want to use.  So they run Windows under the program called Boot Camp.  This, in turn, allows them to use another operating system which works well with what they are actually trying to do with their computer.  If what you have right now is not cutting it, now’s the time to change.
